60th Reunion
The plans are being finalized for our 60th
Reunion. It will be held on Friday, June 2, 2017 at the Peachtree City Hotel
and Conference Center which was previously the Wyndham Peachtree Hotel and
Conference Center. We have reserved the Lafayette banquet room starting from
12:00 noon until 4:00 PM. A buffet lunch will be served starting at 12:30. We
decided to eliminate any formal program so that we will have more time to "catch
up" and "visit." The cost for the reunion will be
$25.00 per
person. The dress is casual.
Please make your check payable to "Russell High Class
of '57" and mail it along with the enclosed form in the envelope provided
before May 10, 2017. Be sure to include the name of your spouse or guest so we
can prepare a name tag.
If you are not attending the reunion this year, please return the enclose form
in the envelope provided before May 10, 2017 so we will know that you have been
contacted and are aware of this event.

The Buffet will include: Loaded Baked Potato Salad, Creamy Cole Slaw, Glazed Pulled Pork, Southern Fried Chicken, Spicy BBQ Corn, Oven Roasted Sweet Potatoes, Southern Green Beans, Honey Cornbread Muffins, Fudge Brownies and Lemon Bar For those planning to stay overnight, a special rate of $119 per night has been negotiated. The Hotel was completely booked during the first weekend of June last year; therefore, it is important to make your reservations soon while rooms are still available. The Peachtree City Hotel and Conference Center, 2443 Highway 54 West, Peachtree City, Georgia 30269 is relatively easy to find. If you are driving from Atlanta, take IH 85 south (toward Montgomery), exit onto Highway 74 (exit 61) and drive to Peachtree City. Turn left on Highway 54 in Peachtree City toward Fayetteville. Turn left into the Hotel and Conference Center as soon as you cross the lake. It is located about 30 minutes from the Airport. Shuttle service is available, but it is expensive at $38 each way. It can be scheduled by calling 770-486-3284. Again this year Becky Brown Jernigan is preparing a memorabilia display. There will be ample time to view the memorabilia tables and watch a continuous video memorializing our deceased classmates. |
Dress: Smart Casual - the
Conference Center is a nice setting and dress should be in good taste.
In addition to comfortable seating, light food and
beverages, including cocktails, may be ordered from these areas. The
Restaurant is near by and
for any wanting a heartier meal, it is available. This is a pay as you go
set up - you pay for what you order and nothing more.
The best description of the Conference Center is that it has the lush feel of
a resort insulated from the hustle and bustle of a big city.
